Research Interests
We are a bioinspired inorganic chemistry group investigating the structure and function of metalloproteins. Specifically, we look at new families of high-affinity copper chelators, multiheme enzymes, and divergent families of radical SAM enzymes to understand the mechanims by which they install protein-derived cofactors. Common techniques used in the Manesis lab include EPR spectroscopy, resonance Raman, stopped-flow, rapid-freeze quench, X-ray crystallography, and bioinformatics.
