Recent Publications and Accomplishments by Biophysics Alumni

Bobby R. Scott, Biophysics alum ('74) and Senior Scientist at the Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute in Albuquerque, NM, has received the International Dose-Response Society 2008 award for Outstanding Leadership in the Field of Dose-Response. Dr. Scott, left, is shown receiving his award.


Goran Neshich (Biophysics graduate August 1989) is serving as the the ISMB 2006 Conference Chair. ISMB, the International Society for Computational Biology, will be holding its 14th annual international conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology in August 2006.

October 2004 graduate, Ahmet Yildiz, received the GE/Science 2006 Young Scientist Award, for his essay "Elucidating the Mechanism of Molecular Motor Movement."

This is just one of many awards he has received for his cutting edge research.


Former Director of the UIUC Biophysics program John Whitmarsh, PhD accepted the position of Program Director for the Division of Cell Biology and Biophysics at the The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (a component of the National Institutes of Health) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in August 2002.
